Don't get too complacent. August is historically a volatile time for the stock market.
The summers are ripe for flash crashes, or sudden market drops in a matter of seconds. Dwindling trading volumes are one of the prime causes of flash crashes.
That's the assessment from Nick Colas, co-founder of DataTrek Research.
"If you see this happen, do not trade," Colas said.
