Women's History Month: Meet the Witch Of Wall Street

During this Women's History Month, we are focusing on Wall St. and the women that have made their mark throughout history. Today meet the Witch of Wall Street, who also happened to be the richest woman in America back in the 1800s.

Henrietta Green was nicknamed the "Witch of Wall Street" because she dressed in black all the time and was pretty miserly.

But that's probably why she also became known as "the richest woman in America" in the late 1800s.

Granted She was born in 1834 to a wealthy family, but she took an interest in finance at an early age.  She would read the financial pages to her father, and by the time she was 14, she stated that she knew "as much about finance as any man."

She invested in stocks and bonds and turned her $6 million inheritance into $100 million by the time she died

Her trading philosophy was pretty simple:
