Trade wars often are started when one country thinks another country's trading practices are unfair. While the underlying idea sounds like a good one, they don't often end well.
President Trump wants to impose tariffs on steel imports to strengthen our steel industry. But the United States is the world's biggest importer of steel and aluminum, so the repercussions of starting a so-called "trade war" can be far and wide. Most importantly, you could feel it in your wallet as the cost of many goods may go up.

And now the administration is talking about imposing tariffs on China -- on technology, apparel and other imports. Even investment and visa restrictions were being discussed.
