5 of the Most Unexpected Retail Partnerships

Who knew you could buy Lord & Taylor items at Walmart soon?
By SARAH SOLOMON Nov 14, 2017 Updated Dec 14, 2017 | 08:51 AM EST
Stocks quotes in this article: SHLD, AMZN, TGT, HBAYF, JCP, WMT

2017 seems to be the wild west of weird retail partnerships. Department stores are trying to adapt to a shifting retail environment inundated with free two-day shipping and the ease of instant price comparisons thanks to the magic of the internet.

Here are just a few of the more surprising brand partnerships, who knows what's in store next?

Lord & Taylor is coming to Walmart (WMT)
Starting in spring 2018, upscale retailer Hudson's Bay Co.-owned (HBAYF) Lord & Taylor will launch a flagship store on Walmart.com.

You can purchase Sears (SHLD) products on Amazon (AMZN)
If you can't beat 'em, join 'em seems to be the mindset here.

You can buy Casper mattresses, Harry's shaving supplies, and Bark from Barkbox products at Target (TGT)
Smart that these trendier online brands have a brick-and-mortar home that can bring in store traffic to Target.

Cop a Rolex at Costco
Looking for an upscale watch? Check out Costco while you're picking up your monthly wheel of party brie.

Sephora at J.C. Penny (JCP)
This more luxurious cosmetics retailer can bring in store traffic to struggling J.C. Penny.
