If you're just now getting information on Tuesday's election, here's what you need to know. Everyone is taking a closer look at the two gubernatorial races in Virginia and New Jersey. The results could indicate how America is responding to President Donald Trump.
In Virginia, Democrat Ralph Northam and Republican Ed Gillepsie will be running against each other.
In New Jersey, Republican Kim Guadagno will be running against Democrat Phil Murphy. Guadagno was Chris Christie's lieutenant governor for the last 8 years. Christie will not be running for governor, since he's prohibited by law to seek a third term.
Murphy is a former executive at at Goldman Sachs (GS) . He has never been elected for public office, but has served as finance chair in the Democratic National Committee under then-President Barack Obama.
In New York Democratic Mayor Bill De Blasio will be running for a second term. He is known for making a universal pre-K program for 4-year-olds, and did some work with affordable housing units. If elected he said he would seek free, full-day preschool for all 3-year-olds.
Running against him is Bo Dietl, an independent and Nicole Malliotakis a Republican, and De Blasio's more prominent challenger. Malliotakis is a state assemblywoman from Staten Island, who has condemned sanctuary cities and plans to end state financial aid for undocumented immigrants who want to go to college.
Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday. Get out and vote.
