The suspected gunman, 64 year old Stephan Paddock, killed himself as the SWAT team moved in. Las Vegas police say 59 people were killed as the shooter rained bullets on concert-goers from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel. As of last night, police were still searching for a motive. 2 executives are on the hot seat in Washington today.
Former Equifax CEO to testify:
Equifax's (EFX) former CEO will testify before Congress. Richard Smith is expected to answer questions about the hack including why he waited 3 weeks before telling the company's board. Wells Fargo (WFC) CEO will also be testifying today. Timothy Sloan is expected to tell a Senate Committee that the bank has made major reforms after the fake accounts scandal.
Goldman Sachs is Considering Cryptocurrencies:
Goldman Sachs (GS) is considering a trading platform for digital currencies, according to the Wall Street Journal. The article says the plans are in the early stages. A move by Goldman Sachs into cryptocurrencies would be the first from a major Wall Street bank.
Despite the president's promise of no stimulus until after Nov. 3, there are no signs yet that this is the sort of correlated selling that leads to a deep correction.
