It's no secret that parents want the best for their kids, and when it comes to nutrition, fast food doesn't typically fit the bill.
Attempting to cater to the more health-conscious, McDonald's (MCD) recently announced that it is cleaning up its 'Happy Meal' menu so all options have 600 calories or fewer and less than 650 milligrams of sodium. In addition, McDonald's wants less than 10 percent of the meals' calories to come from saturated fat and added sugar. With that said, Happy Meal staples, chocolate milk and cheeseburgers, will become things of the past.
With our childhood ruined, we decided to take a look at the menus offered by some of the most popular fast food chains including Burger King (QSR) and Wendy's (WEN) , and we found menus primarily dominated by burgers and chicken nuggets, though healthier sides were often available.
