More than a dozen people are dead and 100 injured in the terror attack at a popular tourist spot in Barcelona. Authorities are still searching for the driver of that van that plowed through the crowds.
Meanwhile, five suspected terrorists are dead in a separate incident south of Barcelona. Police believe the two incidents are related. President Donald Trump has said the United States will do whatever it takes to help Spain.
In other news, Mylan Labs (MYL) has reached a $465 million settlement over the EpiPen scandal. The settlement resolved claims that Mylan avoided higher rebates to state medicaid programs by misclassifying the EpiPen as a generic product even though it was marketed and priced as a brand-name product.
Elsewhere, Gap (GPS) profits more than doubled in the company's latest quarter. Old Navy stores were again the strong link, but Banana Republic sales were weak. Gap also attributed the positive performance to better-managed inventory and fewer discounts.
Despite the president's promise of no stimulus until after Nov. 3, there are no signs yet that this is the sort of correlated selling that leads to a deep correction.
