The real question is how Mickey Drexler was able to hang onto the CEO role of J. Crew Group for so long amid prolonged struggles.
On Monday, J. Crew said Drexler -- a former design wizard at Gap ( GPS) who has led J. Crew for 14 years -- will be succeeded by Jim Brett in July. He most recently served as president of Williams-Sonoma's WSM West Elm furniture business.
Despite the president's promise of no stimulus until after Nov. 3, there are no signs yet that this is the sort of correlated selling that leads to a deep correction.
