Alibaba (BABA) and JD.com (JD) continue to compete for market share in the Chinese e-commerce space, most recently with their delivery methods that will help them keep up with rising order volumes and with delivering to more remote areas of the country.
Alibaba's logistics arm that plans delivery routes, Cainiao Network, announced that it was manufacturing one million delivery vans equipped with artificial intelligence (AI) technology. Cainiao's technology will allow the delivery drivers using the vans to receive the most efficient delivery routes based on real time traffic information. The updated technology will even allow drivers to talk to the voice-activated system to speed up planning.
Meanwhile, JD.com announced delivery drones.
