Light, refreshing cocktails work are perfect for the summer. One such drink is the Americano, says Dave Wondrich, author of the book Imbibe! and senior drinks columnist at The Daily Beast. The classic Americano is a mixture of Italian vermouth and bitters, and cocktail creators riff on it endlessly, as Wondrich himself has done.
He also has a French version of the drink, the Petit Americain. Stir two ounces of Dolin Blanc vermouth de Chambery and an ounce of Byrrh well with cracked ice, strain the drink into a chilled cocktail coupe, add half an ounce of chilled sparkling water, twist a thin-cut swatch of lemon peel over the top and then enjoy the cocktail version of a good rosè.
Despite the president's promise of no stimulus until after Nov. 3, there are no signs yet that this is the sort of correlated selling that leads to a deep correction.
