Residents across the northeast are bracing for a heavy snowstorm on Tuesday. The storm is expected to hit the Northeast Corridor, which includes all of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Washington, Pennsylvania, Baltimore and Massachusetts. More than 1,200 flights have been cancelled for Tuesday, with major airlines issuing travel advisories for the next few days.
Winter storm Jonas in January of 2016 cost airlines an estimated $200 million in canceled flights and logistical costs. JetBlue (JBLU) has canceled 10% of its Monday flights, Southwest (LUV) has canceled 8% and American Airlines (AAL) has canceled 4%.
