Greenlight Capital manager David Einhorn still likes Apple (AAPL) best, but some other companies are catching his eye, too. Einhorn picked up new positions in Syngenta (SYT) , Monsanto (MON) , Alcoa (AA) and Fred's Inc (FRED) . during the fourth quarter of 2016, per SEC filings. Monsanto might be acquired by Bayer (BAYN) , which in September announced plans to buy it for $66 billion. At a December conference, Einhorn made the case for the merger as a "love story." In his 2016 letter to Greenlight investors, Einhorn emphasized what he sees as President Trump's top priority: jobs.
