The Super Bowl is known for its commercials, which cost some $5 million for a 30-second spot. This year, politics was a theme in a host of advertisements.
Anheuser-Busch InBev (BUD) and Coca-Cola (KO) referenced politics in their advertisements. Budweiser in particular generated plenty of buzz heading into the games, since it released its ad online in advance of the game. TheStreet's Brian Sozzi didn't think the Budweiser ad resonated, as it didn't showcase beer, the company's main product.
Tiffany (TIF) aired a commercial during the games featuring Lady Gaga, who performed in the half time show, just as the company announced that its CEO was resigning.
