Jim Cramer received a special poker set recently from Strauss Zelnick of Take-Two Interactive (TTWO) and private-equity firm Zelnick Media Capital. The cards and chips feature the names and photos of some of the media industry's biggest chieftains, including major players at Netflix (NFLX) , Disney (DIS) , Facebook (FB) and Comcast (CMCSA) .
ZMC's Jordan Turkewitz conceived of the custom poker set as a way to thank speakers at the private equity firm's annual meeting in November.
"These are many of the personalities in media, specifically the people they know, meet with, consult for, talk to," Turkewitz told TheStreet. "So, this was made originally just for them -- [but] when I put it together it just looked great, so we started sending it out as a gift to friends [and] partners."
The set was inspired by the U.S. military's Iraq War-era playing cards, which depicted members of Saddam Hussein's government. The military gave the cards out so that troops would learn to identify the most important members of Hussein's regime. For example, Hussein was the ace of spades.
Turkewitz said ZMC's deck features the media industry's "big consolidators," like Liberty Interactive's (QVCA) John Malone. Other cards show CEOs of some of ZMC's portfolio companies, along with ZMC honchos Strauss Zelnick, Karl Slatoff and Turkewitz himself.
The reception to the poker set -- which only costs around $10 to produce -- has been overwhelmingly positive. "We've received cards from heads of studios who have said, 'This is, by far, the best gift I've ever received.'" Turkewitz said. "How often can you do that for $10?"
