Here's a look at two new technologies that will make shopping at your local retailer a lot faster and easier. Datalogic (DAL) and NCR (NCR) both have new scanners to help speed up the retail experience.
Datalogic's Jade X7 scanner is designed to shorten the long lines at store checkouts. The scanner has 26 cameras and can read barcodes from every side. The scanner can also identify items without a barcode, and is two times faster at checking customers out than the fastest cashier.
NCR has a small handheld device that allows users to pick the items they want, scan them with the gun and start self-bagging. And customers no longer have to stand in a traditional line. When customers are done, they simply return the device and choose a payment type. Then you're out the door.
