Two activists who turned around Canadian Pacific (CP) will try to do it again with CSX (CSX) . Activists Hunter Harrison and Paul Hilal are launching a campaign against CSX. The Deal's Lou Whiteman said they hope to improve operating efficiency at the railroad.
CSX's operating ratio has dropped significantly since 2011.
Whiteman said the odds of victory seem high, assuming the activists launch a proxy campaign at the company. But he also said there are some risks that could prevent the campaign from going well, such as the intense pricing pressure CSX is facing from rivals.
