Jonathan Melmed, Co-Chair of Global Private Equity & Buyouts Practice for Morrison & Foerster LLP, says there is some concern about a drop in inbound private equity work from "certain foreign countries" during the Trump administration.
He noted sovereign wealth funds and pension plans are somewhat immune to a higher U.S. dollar.
Melmed also discussed the optimism surrounding President-Elect Trump's promise of infrastructure investment. He says the size of the proposed investment is sparking optimism, despite the complicated transactions often required to complete infrastructure deals.
