Midway through the holiday shopping season, new data finds online sales are on track to rise 11% this year, according to Tamara Gaffney, lead analyst with Adobe (ADBE) Digital Insights. From November 1 through Monday, more than $52 billion has been spent online, and Adobe projects nearly $40 billion more in sales. But only 30% of the total revenue is coming from mobile devices, which will be a challenge for retailers as more consumers leave desktop for mobile. Social media is still not a big driver of sales, according to Gaffney, who says about 1% of traffic to retailers comes from a social media website. Adobe also tracks social media buzz, and Gaffney says Ebay (EBAY) is getting more buzz than Amazon (AMZN) . Adobe also found that shipping costs per order are down five percent year over year.
