Richardson believes the big misconception about rum is that it's packed with sweetness. Flor de Caña rum, which is the marquee spirit of Nicaragua, is produced using a single estate production process and aged in American white oak bourbon barrels sealed with banana leaves. The liquid is known for its simultaneous whiskey-like finish and tropical flavor notes. Billed as a whiskey drinker's rum, Flor de Caña is a prime example of a dynamic mixable with multiple marques, ages and finishes.
