For the week of October 3, the start of the fourth quarter, investors will get the September labor report and a slew of major earnings reports. On Tuesday, Darden Restaurants (DRI) , Micron Technology (MU) and Novagold Resources (NG) report earnings. On Wednesday, Constellation Brands (STZ) , Monsanto (MON) , Global Payments (GPN) and Yum! Brands (YUM) release quarterly reports. International Speedway (ISCA) and Ruby Tuesday (RT) post earnings on Thursday. On the economic calendar, motor vehicle sales for September and ISM Manufacturing Index for September are released Monday. On Wednesday, the ADP Employment Report, which tracks private payrolls, is unveiled. On Thursday, weekly jobless claims are out, followed by the September jobs report on Friday. Also on Friday, FOMC officials Stanley Fischer, Loretta Mester, Esther George and Lael Brainard are speaking at various events. TheStreet's Scott Gamm reports from Wall Street.
