Investors await Home Depot's (HD) earnings and the July consumer price index Tuesday. Home Depot is expected to report second-quarter earnings of $1.97 a share on sales of $26.48 billion. During the same quarter a year ago, the company posted earnings of $1.71 a share with revenue of $24.83 billion. Analysts will be watching the retailer's comparable-store sales, which rose 7.4% year over year in the first quarter. BHP Billiton (BHP) , Dick's Sporting Goods (DKS) , TJX Companies (TJX) and Urban Outfitters (URBN) also report earnings Tuesday.
On the economic calendar, the July consumer price index is released at 8:30 a.m., along with July housing starts. At 9:15 a.m., industrial production figures for July are released.
