Endo Pharmaceutical (ENDP) lagged the S&P 500 after it agreed to buy privately-held Par Pharmaceutical Holdings to create on the of largest generic drugmakers in the U.S. But it was Apple (AAPL) that headlined the session, gaining more than 1% after activist investor Carl Icahn gave another vote of confidence to the world's largest company.
