DuPont Keeps Rising

Last year's fav large-cap long, DuPont , continues higher. Now up $3.20 to a new high. I am not selling any shares. This should only happen to this year's large-cap long of the year -- Allergan (which I have added to)!

Booyah!

New high for one of my favorites, DuPont , which is up $3.

An Uninspiring Start to the Day

The following companies (hat tip Zero Hedge) missed on the top line (sales) this morning (profits weren't much better): Johnson & Johnson MMM DuPont Kimberly-Clark Verizon Again, for emphasis -- beware of the bullish narrative of an improving profit...

DuPont DeLivers

My 2016 favorite large-cap long DuPont -- which has delivered a 38% return since I added the name to my Best Ideas List as a long -- missed slightly on the top line but beat on earnings by $0.09 a share.  DuPont remains a Best Idea. I expect the sha...

Reviewing My Investment Troops

* Allergan (my fav large-cap long for 2017) remains the "world's fair" and market leader. Now up $25 a share above my initial purchase price. * Caterpillar (my fav large-cap short for 2017) looks like it could be rolling over. In part, competitor De...

Reviewing My Investment Troops

Allergan (updated earlier ) up by another six beaners (that's up $6 to those that understand my slang) to over $221.80. This favorite large-cap stock for 2017 was put on my Best Ideas List (only recently) in late December at $194. Some normal profit...

My Takeaways and Observations

I love gold.    Trade of the Week -- short Apple at $116.15. (The SoftBank investment is a non-event).   Dwyerama is chillin' and I am re-establishing my ProShares UltraShort S&P500 ETF  long -- back in a revolutionary mindset.    As January goes......

My Takeaways and Observations (3:30 p.m. Edition)

The markets started the day like Usain Bolt at the start of a 100-meter race. But, unlike Bolt, the finish wasn't as strong as the start.   I thought one of the day's features was the reversal in bond yields, particularly after the good data.    The...

My Fave Large-Cap Long and Short for 2017

Last year my favorite large-cap long was DuPont (up 42% since inclusion on my Best Ideas List on Jan. 26) and my favorite large-cap short was Coca-Cola (down 10.5% since inclusion on Best Ideas List on March 28).  Here are my 2017 picks:  Favorite L...

My Takeaways and Observations

Slow day, at meetings all morning.   Despite the strength in our currency (and its adverse implications on multi-national profitability), there was no follow-through to yesterday's schmeissing.   I reflected on my July call that we have hit a Genera...

My Takeaways and Observations

"Everyone here likes the bounce." -- President-elect Donald Trump (said in a meeting today at Trump Tower with tech executives) A good day for the ursine crowd but not so good for the bullish cabal as they had a bad day -- for a change. (Yes, I am w...

Takeaways and Observations

The markets moved lower from the "get go," though about the time Sixty Minutes was on last evening the S&P 500 futures were up 10 handles. (Futures closed down 2.5 handles)   Perhaps this is the start of a well due correction. Apropos, here is the q...

I Like to Watch

Isn't It DuLovely?

We're seeing new recent highs in Best Ideas List inclusions DuPont and Radian Group .  I'm not selling a share.

My Takeaways and Observations

Was yesterday "FOMO" or something else?    I waited and then moved on the volatility trade.    "How many syllables Mario?" (A Putney Swope reference!)    Wall Street is now a fear-free zone.    Mark Hanson on negative homeowners' equity.    Shorted ...
