Fluid.
Mexico is fluid.
And nothing could be worse than fluid.
One of the hallmarks of Donald Trump's presidency is that everything is fluid. You can totally understand, for example, why the situation with Mexico is fluid. Trump wants the Mexicans to pay for the wall. He has always wanted that. But there's no carrot, just a stick, the stick being that he can block millions of cars from coming to the U.S. by putting an escalating tariff just on them. The biggest growth engine of the Mexican economy is foreign auto companies putting up plants in areas that need work and need it real bad.
So when you hear that the Mexicans haven't done enough, that's just code for they won't pay their fair share, but they will when we cut off their imports.
There's no win-win with this guy. Just I win, you lose.
That's what fluid means.
Fluid isn't just uncertainty, it's ugliness. The only saving grace? We recognize that Trump will sacrifice anything, including the consumer, to win, and the consumer is a useful idiot that will buy anything that he tells them.
