Better Than Feared. BTF.
That's the new watchword, and it's a good one for today. That, and Worse Than Feared, or WTF, of course.
Who is better than feared? International Paper Co. (IP) is BTF. 3M Co. (MMM) is Big BTF; health care is the star there.
VFC Corp. (VFC) ? BTF, which is amazing given its retail supplier status.
But who is WTF?
How about Caterpillar Inc. (CAT) ? Darn it all, really? WTF because of an inventory bulge and the need for the Permian to come back.
Dow Inc. (DOW) ? Not sure; in line, but cut for next quarter.
Ford Motor Co. (F) WTF: China?
Facebook Inc. (FB) BTF: 28% growth vs. the worst quarter, the one from last year.
PayPal Holdings Inc. (PYPL) WTF: Call it confusion.
ServiceNow Inc. (NOW) WTF, but if you peel back the onion I like the big contracts, the plus $1 million.
Many more: Works in progress; it's the biggest day of the year, so stay tuned.
Oh, and get this, a final one:
Tesla Inc. (TSLA) : For me, BTF. Why? Because of the till. How much? About $5 billion.
They can handle the losses; it's an against-the-grain call for certain.
