Caterpillar, Inc. (CAT) is a large global manufacturing company. Its products are used around the world and some market watchers consider the movement of the stock price to be a predictor of economic shifts.
Let's check out the latest charts of CAT to see if they are poised to rally, fall or just stall.
In the daily bar chart of CAT, below, we can see that prices have been trading up and down and up and down the past 12 months. Buy and hold investors have probably been frustrated and nimble traders may not have been all that successful either. Prices are currently trading between the declining 50-day moving average line and the flat 200-day moving average line -- not exactly the picture of strength.
The On-Balance-Volume (OBV) line made a low in late May and has seesawed its way higher. Buyers of CAT have been more aggressive but only in an on-and-off way. The Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) has been moving up and down around the zero line and not showing much in the way of sustained strength.
