Shares of home improvement retailer Lowe's Companies ( LOW) have declined the past two months. Let's dig into the charts and indicators to see if this weakening trend will continue.
In this daily bar chart of LOW, below, I can see that prices have failed to overcome chart resistance in the $215-$225 area several times in the past year. Prices are now trading below the declining 50-day moving average line and also below the 200-day line. The On-Balance-Volume (OBV) line shows weakness from December. The Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) oscillator is in a bearish alignment below the zero line.
In this weekly Japanese candlestick chart of LOW, below, I see a picture of fading strength. Prices are below the 40-week moving average line. The trading volume has been decreasing for months. The OBV line has slipped since late 2021. The Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) oscillator just turned bearish.
In this daily Point and Figure chart of LOW, below, I can see a potential downside price target in the $161 area.
In this second Point and Figure chart of LOW, below, I used weekly price data. Here the software also shows up a $161 price target.
Bottom line strategy: In full disclosure I am a patient buyer at LOW and will wait for sales. Investors in LOW also seem to be waiting for the stock to sell at lower levels. Avoid the long side of LOW for now.
