Professional services company Accenture plc ( ACN) has made a bottom on its stock charts. Let's consult the charts for a strategy to go long and what to risk.
In this daily bar chart of ACN, below, I can see a bottoming process playing out over the past 12 months. Declines towards and below $260 found buying interest (support) several times. Prices are trading above the 50-day and the 200-day moving averages. The 50-day is close to crossing above the 200-day for a bullish golden cross buy signal. Trading volume shows an increase from December as investors showed more interest in the company.
The On-Balance-Volume (OBV) line began a rise in March telling me that buyers were now being more aggressive than sellers. The Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) oscillator is now above the zero line in buy territory.
In this weekly Japanese candlestick chart of ACN, below, I can see a big rally followed by a correction and the base pattern I discussed above. Prices are trading above the bottoming 40-week moving average line. The weekly OBV line turned up in May. The MACD oscillator has crossed above the zero line this month.
In this daily Point and Figure chart of ACN, below, I can see that the software is projecting an upside price target in the $423 area.
In this weekly Point and Figure chart of ACN, below, I can see the same $423 price target as the daily chart above.
Bottom line strategy: Traders could go long ACN on weakness towards $300. Risk to $285 for now. The round number of $400 is my first price target. $423 is second.
