Does everything disrupt everything? Do partnerships solve the unsolvable? Do cultures meld so easily that deals make all the difference?
I am out in San Francisco this week to cover the latest tech and get a read on everything from the cloud to digitization to internet of things and companies that are forging ahead and companies that are falling behind.
But I am also here to sort through the hype. What's the real deal behind the Adobe (ADBE) -Microsoft (MSFT) -SAP (SAP) partnership? How serious is the Apple (AAPL) -Salesforce.com (CRM) tie-up? What's the real deal with the subscription economy? Is Dropbox (DBX) really as successful as I thought? Is FireEye (FEYE) being left behind in cyber theft and terrorism?
Has Intel (INTC) fallen so far behind in its core business that Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) really can go to $40?
And what's the story with the decline in the social media stocks, including Twitter (TWTR) and now, of course, Facebook (FB) , with the departure of the Instagram founders?
I think there's a lot of confusion and leadership changes going on right now in software, hardware, social, the web, the tools for the cloud and I know that I don't have the answers.
We need them.
Other that our own Eric Jhonsa I don't get a lot of insightful commentary.
Time to start digging.
