Did David Faber Kill Kellogg (K) ?
I am talking about the scoop David produced today that there are no talks to acquire Kellogg going on right now. He shot down the talk about Kellogg perhaps being acquired by Kraft Heinz (KHC) , an Action Alerts PLUS name.
First he acknowledged the setup: hedge fund guys linking tail numbers of private planes from Battle Creek, Mich. (HQ for Kellogg), to Chicago, where Kraft is, Omaha, where Warren Buffett is (partners with 3G) and where Charlie Munger is, in LA, the doppelganger of Buffett.
David was able to confirm no takeover talks, despite the obvious contrails.
But I keep thinking about how B&G Foods (BGS) bought Green Giant from General Mills (GIS) , a win for both because B&G needed a big anchor brand and General Mills all at once became more organic and natural.
What if Kraft is trying to buy Keebler, the very not natural and organic cookie and snack biz of Kellogg? Wouldn't that make sense?
I believe something other than a wholesale acquisition might be going on. Important to keep this one front and center, especially with Kellogg getting slaughtered today off of the killing.
How about notable.
