U.S. stocks rebounded from earlier losses and ended Tuesday mixed. At the closing bell, the Dow Jones Industrial Average ticked lower, the S&P 500 ticked higher and the Nasdaq Composite fell fractionally.
Consumer staples and financial names rallied on the session, while telecom, technology and utility stocks fell. Elsewhere, the yield on the benchmark 10-year U.S. Treasury note gained 4.7 basis points, to 2.429%. Crude oil and natural gas futures also rose 3% and 4%, respectively.
Lululemon (LULU) was the big winner of the session, gaining nearly 11% on a higher profit outlook. On the other hand, Burlington Stores (BURL) fell 8% after quarterly sales trailed expectations. In after-hours action, Oxford Industries (OXM) is up 3% after posting better-than-expected quarterly results.
Looking ahead to Thursday morning, Francesca's (FRAN) headlines a quiet earnings calendar. Biogen (BIIB), Caterpillar (CAT) and Target (TGT) are all hosting annual investor meetings.
