European stocks were lower this morning as investors focused on continued uncertainty regarding Greece's potential default on its sovereign debt. Germany, however, raised its 2015 growth forecast to 1.8% on the back of strong consumer spending. Meanwhile, the U.S. dollar and crude oil were both trading lower.
Some notable earnings today include Trifecta Stocks holdings EMC (EMC) and Boeing (BA). Also, look for reports from Action Alerts PLUS holdings Facebook (FB) and Thermo Fischer (TMO).
Other notable reports today include Coca-Cola (KO), McDonald's (MCD), Abbott Laboratories (ABT), Qualcomm (QCOM), Sketchers (SKX), Las Vegas Sands (LVS), AT&T (T), eBay (EBAY) and Xilinx (XLNX).
Plenty of housing data on today's domestic economic docket, starting with MBA mortgage applications for the week April 17 at 7 a.m. ET; the FHFA housing price index for February at 9 a.m., with consensus at 0.5%; and March existing home sales are at 10 a.m., with estimates calling for 5.03 million.
Industrial production is due at 9:15 a.m., with -0.2% expected, and at 10:30 a.m. look for the Energy Department's energy inventories report.
