Shares of Comcast (CMCSA) have been in a strong uptrend for more than a year. I think my Comcast bill has been in an uptrend longer than that, but you are probably not subscribing to Real Money to read me complain about life. Let's get back to the charts.
In this updated daily bar chart of Action Alerts PLUS holding CMCSA, below, we can see the uptrend from early 2016 that turned stronger in November. Prices traded through the rising 50-day moving average line in May and June and September but the trend is stronger now with only a dip toward the rising average line earlier this month.
The On-Balance-Volume (OBV) line has generally moved up with the price action. The Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) oscillator has been bullish since November and continues bullish now.
In this three-year weekly chart of CMCSA, below, we can see that prices have rallied and corrected sideways for the most part. Prices are above the rising 40-week moving average line. The weekly OBV line is positive and the MACD oscillator also signals a strong advance.
This Point and Figure chart of CMCSA, below, is another way of looking at the rally -- pretty straight up from $60. Even though prices have rallied a lot from the 2015-2016 consolidation, this chart still yields a $92.50 price target.
